Raichur, a district head quarter is the Principal administrative unit under state level. The Deputy Commissioner is the head of the District Administration. He is vested with the powers of both central and state levels. D.C. office comes in direct contact with people and people’s representatives at various levels. Apart from the regulatory functions D.C. has wide range of supervisory roles at the district level and guides and coordinates the developmental activities of the district.
His major responsibilities as Deputy Commissioner involve: land assessment, land aquisition, collection of land revenue, collection of income tax dues, irrigation dues etc., distribution of agricultural loans, disaster management during natural calamities, crisis management during riots, and as DC he is the chairman of District Bankers Coordination Committee and Head of District Industries Center.
As District Magistrate his duties involve: maintenance of law and order, supervision of Police and Jails, Certification of Execution of Capital Sentences, Supervision of Subordinate Executive Magistracy, hearing cases under preventive section of the criminal procedure code and Arbitrator of land acquisition.

ii) Assisstant Commissioner of Lingasugur to whom Tahasildars of Lingasugur and Sindhanoor report.
